Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
A few days after the recovery of firearms in Sealdah, Kolkata Police has uncovered shocking details about the arrested suspects. Five individuals, who were caught near Surendranath College with foreign-made weapons, had allegedly planned a major robbery in the Burrabazar area.
The arrested individuals, all hailing from Uttar Pradesh, were found to be well-educated, including engineering and MA degree holders. Their backgrounds initially baffled the police, raising questions about why highly qualified individuals were involved in such crimes. Further investigation revealed that they had obtained specific information about a high-value transaction in a Burrabazar business establishment and had traveled to Kolkata with the intent of carrying out a heist.
The Kolkata Police, in collaboration with the Uttar Pradesh Police, is now investigating deeper links to potential criminal networks. Authorities are probing whether the group had connections with larger organized crime syndicates and how they obtained the firearms.
